What a delight to have found such a friendly, knowledgeable and professional company as Essex Stove Installations. Mr Hull arrived and finished on time. Very refreshing to see, after our experience with other tradesmen recently.
His work was carried out to our high and exacting standards and he cleaned up afterwards.
We really cannot fault his work and have no hesitation in recommending him to absolutely anyone.
We wanted a stove for our 16th Century cottage, but found the choices out there a bit mind boggling! Essex Stove Installations were recommended to us and, after an initial chat on the phone, quickly felt we really were in the hands of the experts.
We had an open fire in the living room and although it looked lovely, the heat was mostly going up the chimney. We wanted a stove that would not only look beautiful, but would keep the heart of our home warm enough in winter so we did not have to rely on the ever more expensive night storage heaters.
Their advisor and fitter, came and did a site survey, (removing his shoes before he entered the house) as well as to chat further about what we wanted. He recommended the Runswick inset stove by Town and Country Fires and so we went ahead and ordered.
The fitting of our new stove was done within a day and it did, indeed look perfect!
We were so happy upon lighting our first fire and kept it going most of last winter! It keeps us toasty warm, looks great, is easy to use and saves us money.
Many thanks to Essex Stove Installations for such great customer service!
Mark H. (Chelmsford)
Essex Stove Installations came very highly recommended to us by a friend of ours who also had a wood stove installed recently. After a chat over the phone an engineer came round the same day to measure up in order to give us a quotation.
We have a large inglenook in a relatively small room and we explained that we wanted a large stove to fill the space.
We were advised that if we had a large stove, we would be too hot and would not be able to use the stove. They suggested the Dovre 1800 multi fuel stove by Stovax which can be used with the doors open as well as closed. This was the perfect solution as it looks great in the fireplace and when it gets a bit toasty we just open the doors to reveal a lovely romantic open fire and the room cools down a little.
They also supplied and installed a beautiful slate hearth with sets to whole thing off perfectly.
As for the service, I cannot fault them. They were prompt, clean and tidy and very friendly. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a wood burner and we will be using them again for another wood burner in one of our other rooms.
Thank you Essex Stove Installations!

Just a short note to express our delight with the work you and Dave did installing our wood burning stove.
Everything was carried out in an expert and friendly manner, even the unexpected extras.
We would have no hesitation in recommending your services to our associates and friends should the occasion arise.
Also, a big thank you for arranging the plasterers on our behalf to carry out the additional work required by us. They were most friendly and efficient.
Wishing you every success.

Brick fireplace was removed and right hand side of the chimney stack was re-built. Fireplace opening was rendered and the chimney breast plastered. Slate was then laid for the hearth and wrapped around the chimney breast to cover up the gaps in the carpet where the old fireplace used to be.
Quarry tile hearth was replaced with black slate. The skirting board has been cut out to insert the hearth and left ready for the customer to fit new skirting. The chimney was lined and a Stockton 3 by Stovax was chosen which fits in perfectly with the size of the opening.
We met Garey exhibiting at local county show where he explained the products and services available to us clearly and precisely, without the hard 'sell'. We were so pleased with his friendly approach, we booked him for a site survey straight away.
Garey was thorough during the site survey, and ensured all our questions were answered ,before leaving us with a quote (without any hard sales tactics) to consider. There was no doubt, in our minds, his passion and professionalism, sold it for us.
The installation is perfect and is exactly as we had imagined it would be and more. Garey and his Dad were very precise and clinical during the day and the results are clear.
Thanks to that 'country show' and Garey, we have a great stove and we would highly recommend there services.
I found Essex Stove Installations to be professional and courteous through out the whole project. With tips to assist me in lighting and maintaining energy efficiency and also spoke to me about potential mistakes that people have and how to alleviate these. I had a very happy team and enjoyed there company during the project, they were clean and respectful in my home surroundings. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
Sharon Brown (Basildon)
Sharon wanted to have a wood burning stove but her home didn't have a chimney. We installed a twin wall, stainless steel, ridged flue system from the top of the wood burner, fourty five degrees through the wall, up the outside of the house and then bent again fourty five degrees around the gutter. The wood burner it self, was set in a corner position sitting on a five sided slate hearth with a bevelled edge.
I founds Garey from Essex stove installations on line he was prompt for my quotation and very professional and gave me lots of information. He turned up on time for the installion..... Worked without taking a break and tidied up afterwards. I am very impressed and would highly recommend this company.
Wendy Allen (Eriswell)
Wendy and Richard were reffered to us by an existing customer. They had brought their Clearview Pioneer 400 stove from a previous house and were looking for a company to line the chimney and connect their stove.
Although Essex Stove Installations can supply most makes of stove, we are also happy to install your stove as long as it's CE approved.
I would like to thank you for the professional and efficient service you provided for me on the 4th December 2012. I am so happy with the wood burner that you fitted and it really makes a centerpiece of the room. Despite the job being difficult, you maintained an air of calm and managed to fit the wood burner, despite my having an 'awkward' chimney and a live wire outside! I would whole heartedly recommend your service to any potential customer.
Thanks again and every good wish for a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
Lesley Baker (White Notley)
After a brief chat, Lesley chose the Charnwood Country 4 stove as it was the perfect size for her opening and for the room size. The opening was prepared prior to installation with a small step left in the chamber. We will be returning to fit a thin slither of slate on the front of the step to create a seamless finish.
We've been using our stove for a few weeks now and it's working great. I would just like to say your installation of both flue and stove was 1st Class and carried out in a very professional manner.
I will certainly recommend your services to others, should the opportunity arise.
Paul & Wendy Marriott
Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how pleased we are with the installation of our Pioneer 400. We found everyone involved to be very professional and friendly. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending you to others. Thank you all for all your hard work.
I just wanted to say thank you for the professional, efficient and courteous services of you and your colleagues during the recent installation of our log burner. I'm so glad I finally took the decision to go ahead with it and that I chose Essex Stove Installations to carry out the work.
Garey and his team advised us on the right stove at the right price for us and did a thorough, professional and fuss-free installation at a good price and bang on schedule.

When Garey walked into our sitting room for the initial survey, he immediately thought that the fireplace we had was originally larger, and had been reduced by previous owners of the property. After some investigation on his part, indeed the fireplace - or opening was much larger and with some work could be taken back to its original size, which we were pleased to agree having done. We live in a very old cottage and watching him carefully expose the original fireplace in all its glory was a wonder and we were so thrilled with seeing the old sooty bricks at the back of the fireplace when the reveal was completed! His work was clean, precise, time efficient, and expertly executed, with hardly any disruption to us. When we watched as the new stove was installed we were totally amazed at the huge change it made to our sitting room - a sitting room that now actually looked like a cottage sitting room with a beautifully welcoming and very practical ‘feature’. Garey gave us instructions on how to use the stove, and after just two days of installation, we had what we had both always wanted.
We can completely recommend Garey; he is very pleasant to have around; personable, professional and obviously very skilled and knowledgable in his service and products. He was punctual, exceptionally clean and diligent and has enhanced our comfort levels to the max. We simply adore our new stove and so does everyone else who visits. 5* service and product and a huge thank you from us!

I just wanted to thank you and Nick for your guidance and fantastic installation of our Charnwood C4 stove. It is great to have this installed just before Christmas as you promised, despite the interuption of the 5 metres of Jackdaws' nests blocking the flue! I have no hesitation is recommending your firm for stove installations. I will be calling you again when we build the extension....Kind regards
Our old gas fire was in need of a replacement and the fireplace and surround needed attention. We decided on a wood stove instead of another gas fire - the house would have had a solid fuel burner originally, so it seemed right to put a real fire back.
We contacted Garey who did an initial survey. We had a chat about the house and the kind of things that would be in keeping with the building which is small and date from the late 1950's. We settled on having the fireplace opened and a slate hearth with a Charnwood Country 4 stove.
The installation took the best part of two days. Garey and his colleague arrived bright and early on both occasions. They opened up the fireplace - making sure it was structurally sound and created a space that the stove would occupy without being cramped. The chimney was lined and then the whole chimney breast was rendered and plastered. Finally, the stove was installed, tested and demonstrated. A carbon dioxide detector was supplied as well as a HETAS certificate.
What we have at the end of the two days of work is a fireplace and hearth that is a world away from what was there before, but is in keeping with the style and character of the house.
We'd like to thank Garey and Dave for not just their hard work, but for their professional approach to the job and the high quality finish.
All the best
Tim and I had the whole house refurbished - out of all the changes
that we made, this is our favourite. During winter, the stove warms
the whole house. The incredible ambience it creates really makes the
room the heart of the home. During summer it's a focal point of the
room and makes a stunning feature.
The service you provided from the first time we discussed options
through to installation and aftercare was exemplary (believe me, not
everyone we encountered was even half as brilliant as you and your
We have recommended your services to numerous friends and family who
have visited and commented on how lovely the slate and the stove
We really hope to see your business going from strength to strength,
it's a fantastic product and a very professionally executed service.
PS If I ever need a basket, I'll come to you first ;)
Tim & Gagun Skarratt
We are very pleased with the finished product and look of the stove; we are looking forward to firing it up at the weekend once the slate has all settled etc!
Please extend our thanks to Nick and his colleagues for the great job they did and their professionalism (both in the preparatory and fitting phases). Thanks to you also for your guidance and organisation.
We would be happy to provide you with a reference should any of your future clients require one.
We are still a little undecided on whether to have slate or skirting board to finish off. If we do decide on slate, I'll give you a call.
Many thanks again to you and your team for such a professional job.
Nicola and Colin Todd
John and I would both like to express our thanks for a wonderful job you completed installing our stone fireplace and stove.
John and I visited many stove/fireplace outlets and found it all a bit of a mine field until we met you, a colleague from work recommended we contact yourself and we are so glad we did as from the moment you entered our home we had made our minds up that you were the right person for the job, we found you to be very knowledgeable, thorough, efficient, helpful and without all the sales pitch and pressure we received from other outlets.
You and your team were hard working, clean and have installed a wonderful feature to our home, it has met all our expectations and more - Thank you.
I have attached a picture of the fireplace which has now dried out.
We would have no hesitation in recommending you and your team and would say to anyone interested in having a stove or fireplace installed contact Essex stove Installations.
Once again thank you *:) happy
Both Garey and Thom were very professional and knowledgeable from the moment they arrived. They were both very respectful to the property using dust sheets and hoovers as well as offering to remove footware.
Prior to the install, Garey came over for a pre-install survey and proved very knowledgeable and offered his advice on the most suitable burner for the job, without the hard sell and was able to offer an approximate price there and then. It was his professionalism and attitude that made me feel I need not look anywhere else.
The installation was carried out with care and the results are very neat - both with a keen eye for detail.
Would definitely recommend Essex Stove Installations.
Lindsey and I want to say thank you to Garey and Tom for their excellent work and diligence in installing our new wood burning stove which involved raising the lintel and replastering. We enjoyed the easy manner of both Garey and Tom and admired the work ethic and professionalism that both brought to the job. Also Dave the Plasterer who followed up on through Garey's recommendation who has done the finest ceiling plastering t in our house thank you. I have no hesitation in recommending the Essex Stove Installation team to do a stove installation in your house.

I would just like to say a big thank you for the professional job you did on the installation of our multi fuel stove, no mess a first class job will definitely be recommending you to anyone I know who wants a stove fitted properly.
Mr. Wilson - Wickham Bishops
Garey fitted two log burners for me 4 years ago, including a particularly challenging installation that needed to sort out a problem left by a previous installer. Any time I have had any problem or query since, Garey has responded quickly, including sorting a new back plate when mine one warped a couple of months back, which is seriously good service after 4 years!

Thank you so much for the great job you and your team mate did for us in fitting our fire yesterday. From start to finish you have provided a completely professional service, kept us informed and given us excellent advice. The fire looks fabulous and we had a great evening testing it out last night.
I will be transferring the balance of the payment to you this evening.
Once again many thanks for providing us with such excellent service
Garey did a professional job of installing a woodburning stove, hearth & mantle in our lounge. Garey's work is of an excellent standard and we found Garey (and his apprentice Jay) to be very reliable, courteous, friendly & hardworking. They tidied up afterwards, and answered any queries we had during the installation and offered any help if we needed to ask anything afterwards. Very pleased with the finished result, would highly recommend Essex Stove Installations

Marianne and I just wanted to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for not only the professionalism which you and your team brought to the installation of our multifuel burner - which we would expect, but equally important the care and consideration you all exercised when you were in our home. It was a pleasure to have you around and to experience the untraumatic work that can be done by tradesmen who are not only very good at what they do but want to do a good job. It was also very refreshing to meet someone who addresses 'problems' as an opportunity for exercising creative solutions rather than something to just blame someone else for. You are truly the 'flue register plate' meister :-)
Thank you once again, and if you ever need a reference don't hesitate to ask.
