What a delight to have found such a friendly, knowledgeable and professional company as Essex Stove Installations. Mr Hull arrived and finished on time. Very refreshing to see, after our experience with other tradesmen recently.

His work was carried out to our high and exacting standards and he cleaned up afterwards.

We really cannot fault his work and have no hesitation in recommending him to absolutely anyone.

We wanted a stove for our 16th Century cottage, but found the choices out there a bit mind boggling! Essex Stove Installations were recommended to us and, after an initial chat on the phone, quickly felt we really were in the hands of the experts.

We had an open fire in the living room and although it looked lovely, the heat was mostly going up the chimney. We wanted a stove that would not only look beautiful, but would keep the heart of our home warm enough in winter so we did not have to rely on the ever more expensive night storage heaters.

Their advisor and fitter, came and did a site survey, (removing his shoes before he entered the house) as well as to chat further about what we wanted. He recommended the Runswick inset stove by Town and Country Fires and so we went ahead and ordered.

The fitting of our new stove was done within a day and it did, indeed look perfect!

We were so happy upon lighting our first fire and kept it going most of last winter! It keeps us toasty warm, looks great, is easy to use and saves us money.

Essex Stove Installations came very highly recommended to us by a friend of ours who also had a wood stove installed recently. After a chat over the phone an engineer came round the same day to measure up in order to give us a quotation.

We have a large inglenook in a relatively small room and we explained that we wanted a large stove to fill the space.

We were advised that if we had a large stove, we would be too hot and would not be able to use the stove. They suggested the Dovre 1800 multi fuel stove by Stovax which can be used with the doors open as well as closed. This was the perfect solution as it looks great in the fireplace and when it gets a bit toasty we just open the doors to reveal a lovely romantic open fire and the room cools down a little.

They also supplied and installed a beautiful slate hearth with sets to whole thing off perfectly.

As for the service, I cannot fault them. They were prompt, clean and tidy and very friendly. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a wood burner and we will be using them again for another wood burner in one of our other rooms.

Before

Brick fireplace was removed and right hand side of the chimney stack was re-built. Fireplace opening was rendered and the chimney breast plastered. Slate was then laid for the hearth and wrapped around the chimney breast to cover up the gaps in the carpet where the old fireplace used to be.

Before

Quarry tile hearth was replaced with black slate. The skirting board has been cut out to insert the hearth and left ready for the customer to fit new skirting. The chimney was lined and a Stockton 3 by Stovax was chosen which fits in perfectly with the size of the opening.

We met Garey exhibiting at local county show where he explained the products and services available to us clearly and precisely, without the hard 'sell'. We were so pleased with his friendly approach, we booked him for a site survey straight away.

Garey was thorough during the site survey, and ensured all our questions were answered ,before leaving us with a quote (without any hard sales tactics) to consider. There was no doubt, in our minds, his passion and professionalism, sold it for us.

The installation is perfect and is exactly as we had imagined it would be and more. Garey and his Dad were very precise and clinical during the day and the results are clear.

Thanks to that 'country show' and Garey, we have a great stove and we would highly recommend there services.

Sharon wanted to have a wood burning stove but her home didn't have a chimney. We installed a twin wall, stainless steel, ridged flue system from the top of the wood burner, fourty five degrees through the wall, up the outside of the house and then bent again fourty five degrees around the gutter. The wood burner it self, was set in a corner position sitting on a five sided slate hearth with a bevelled edge.

I founds Garey from Essex stove installations on line he was prompt for my quotation and very professional and gave me lots of information. He turned up on time for the installion..... Worked without taking a break and tidied up afterwards. I am very impressed and would highly recommend this company.

After a brief chat, Lesley chose the Charnwood Country 4 stove as it was the perfect size for her opening and for the room size. The opening was prepared prior to installation with a small step left in the chamber. We will be returning to fit a thin slither of slate on the front of the step to create a seamless finish.

We've been using our stove for a few weeks now and it's working great. I would just like to say your installation of both flue and stove was 1st Class and carried out in a very professional manner.

When Garey walked into our sitting room for the initial survey, he immediately thought that the fireplace we had was originally larger, and had been reduced by previous owners of the property. After some investigation on his part, indeed the fireplace - or opening was much larger and with some work could be taken back to its original size, which we were pleased to agree having done. We live in a very old cottage and watching him carefully expose the original fireplace in all its glory was a wonder and we were so thrilled with seeing the old sooty bricks at the back of the fireplace when the reveal was completed! His work was clean, precise, time efficient, and expertly executed, with hardly any disruption to us. When we watched as the new stove was installed we were totally amazed at the huge change it made to our sitting room - a sitting room that now actually looked like a cottage sitting room with a beautifully welcoming and very practical ‘feature’. Garey gave us instructions on how to use the stove, and after just two days of installation, we had what we had both always wanted.
We can completely recommend Garey; he is very pleasant to have around; personable, professional and obviously very skilled and knowledgable in his service and products. He was punctual, exceptionally clean and diligent and has enhanced our comfort levels to the max. Our old gas fire was in need of a replacement and the fireplace and surround needed attention. We decided on a wood stove instead of another gas fire - the house would have had a solid fuel burner originally, so it seemed right to put a real fire back.

We contacted Garey who did an initial survey. We had a chat about the house and the kind of things that would be in keeping with the building which is small and date from the late 1950's. We settled on having the fireplace opened and a slate hearth with a Charnwood Country 4 stove.

The installation took the best part of two days. Garey and his colleague arrived bright and early on both occasions. They opened up the fireplace - making sure it was structurally sound and created a space that the stove would occupy without being cramped. The chimney was lined and then the whole chimney breast was rendered and plastered. Finally, the stove was installed, tested and demonstrated. A carbon dioxide detector was supplied as well as a HETAS certificate.

What we have at the end of the two days of work is a fireplace and hearth that is a world away from what was there before, but is in keeping with the style and character of the house.

We'd like to thank Garey and Dave for not just their hard work, but for their professional approach to the job and the high quality finish.

Tim and I had the whole house refurbished - out of all the changes

that we made, this is our favourite. During winter, the stove warms

the whole house. The incredible ambience it creates really makes the

room the heart of the home. During summer it's a focal point of the

room and makes a stunning feature.

The service you provided from the first time we discussed options

through to installation and aftercare was exemplary (believe me, not

everyone we encountered was even half as brilliant as you and your

team!)

Both Garey and Thom were very professional and knowledgeable from the moment they arrived. They were both very respectful to the property using dust sheets and hoovers as well as offering to remove footware.

Prior to the install, Garey came over for a pre-install survey and proved very knowledgeable and offered his advice on the most suitable burner for the job, without the hard sell and was able to offer an approximate price there and then. It was his professionalism and attitude that made me feel I need not look anywhere else.

The installation was carried out with care and the results are very neat - both with a keen eye for detail.
